Newborn Baby Clothes for My New Godson

Trisha with Bambina Ballerina is giving away a gift certificate ...I just received the good news yesterday that my cousin gave birth to a healthy baby boy. She told me that I’ll be the godmother of her baby even before he was born. I was so excited to see the baby upon learning the news. I love kids but we don’t have babies in our house yet because my siblings and I are all still single. I went to a baby boutique this morning to find a present for the baby boy. I asked the assistant for the newborn baby clothes section and she assisted me there. I checked on the clothes which will fit a newborn baby boy. I bought a pack of romper sleepsuit with different colors and designs. The pack had 5 pieces which cost 80.00 only since it was on sale. The pack was originally sold at 100.00. I then went to my cousin’s house to visit her and the baby. They were discharged from the hospital this morning since they were both fine.

From Judo (Kano Jiu Jitsu) to Gracie Jiu Jitsu

When Mitsuyo Maeda originally taught Judo to the Gracie family, he called it Kano Jiu Jitsu in reverence for his teacher. As the Gracie family continued to develop the art from favoring stronger, larger fighters to smaller, more technical fighters, the Gracie families came to call it Gracie Jiu Jitsu (GJJ) or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ).

The Gracies owned a BJJ academy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where Carlos Gracie was the head instructor. One day, the president of the Bank of Brazil, Mario Brandt, showed up with the intention of taking a lesson in BJJ. He put on his Brazilian jiu jitsu gi and waited on the mats for Carlos. As Carlos was running late, his much smaller and younger brother, Helio Gracie, taught Brandt the lesson for the day. Carlos eventually showed up and apologized, but Brandt wasn’t upset at all. Helio had taught an excellent lesson and Mario asked to train with Helio from now on.

Helio was not even allowed to don a bjj gi for the first few years of training under doctors orders. His bones broke easily and he was often hurt by his larger brothers. Helio, however, had a brilliant mind and sat and watched his brothers train for years, perfecting techniques in his head that work would for a smaller fighter like himself.

After his lesson with Brandt, he realized that the moves were a lot harder in real life than they were in his head. He practiced the moves he had learned in his head until he learned to use leverage to move a larger opponent, not strength. Today, his techniques are still practiced and smaller fighters, like Caio Terra and Bruno Malfaicine, are able to manhandle people of every size and stature. Thankfully, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, from it’s origins in Gracie Jiu Jitsu, has allowed smaller people to defend themselves not only on the training mats, but on the street as well.
